Export and Import
After gaining independence by the republic great possibilities for active participation in international share of labor, extension of foreign economic relations have appeared. Here there are necessary mineral-raw material favorable vegetative resources for the development of agricultural branches, natural-climatic conditions, the accumulated scientific-productive potential. Presently positive changes are taking place in their use in the interests of the republic.
The economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan is being developed for the implementation and deepening of trade-economic tasks. The republic cooperates both with the countries of close as well as the countries of far abroad.
If for many years the balance of foreign economic relations was negative, and the amount of import exceeded the amount of export, then by 1994 this situation has changed, the balance became positive, and the present tendency is continuing.
With the objectives for the improvement of external economic complex management and coordination of activities of different ministries, departments, associations and organizations on trade-economic, currency-financial and scientific-technical links with foreign countries, in February of 1992 the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan was created, and at the present time it is the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relationships, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Presently the republic has broad perspectives on deepening of external trade-economic links. Independent cooperation of enterprises, associations, companies with world market is extending, and that stimulates the creation of new organizational-economic structures. The list of the countries that have signed with Uzbekistan trade-economic agreements is extending. In the number of our partners are the USA, the Republic of Korea, the UK, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Japan, India, China, Thailand and many others. One of the most important and efficient ways for the development of foreign economic relation is the creation of joint ventures with foreign countries. This form of productive activities, applied in many countries of the world, becomes popular in Uzbekistan. In the formation of joint ventures in Uzbekistan the companies from dozens of world countries are participing, first of all from the USA, the UK, Germany, the Republic of Korea, China, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Pakistan, Russia and the others. Well-known are joint ventures «Zarafshan—Newmont», «UzBAT», «Kabul—Uzbekcompany» and the others. The joint venture of Uzbekistan «Sovplastital», created in 1988 in cooperation with Italian company «Alma Rosa», became well-known in the whole of the world. It is one of the first for the period of its activities, established close partner relationships with industrial and trade companies of a number of the countries of the world. Its produce is recognized in Austria, France, the UK, Russia, Belgium, Holland, China, South Korea, Canada, the USA, in the countries of Persian Gulf and the others. The JV «Sovplastital» was awarded with numerous international prizes. It makes significant contribution to the economy of the republic while manufacturing import replacing and export oriented produce. Highly artistic produce made of colored glass, porcelain, ceramics, and in particular various vases, statuettes, watches, panels, chess, plastic flowers, toys for children — this is incomplete list of its goods. A number of produce are unique.
The same compliment deserves also the joint venture «Khobas-Tapo» on manufacturing non-metallic pipes for drinking water supply and sewerage waste.Its pipes are famous for their durability, and may operate during the period of 75 years in any climatic conditions. Water quality with that is not worsening. The JV «Khobas-Tabo» due to its uniqueness is the only one within the CIS.
