Uzbekistan Electric & Energy: Fuel and power sector
The energy system of Uzbekistan completely supplies demands of the republic in electric and thermal electric energy. The republic of Uzbekistan occupies the forth place among the CIS countries by generation, as well as according to the consumption of electric energy (after Russia, the Ukraine, Kazakhstan).
The main share of the republic electric energy is generated by the big thermal power stations, the following ones referred to them-Syrdarya, Tashkent, Navoi, Angren and Takhiatash. Their contribution to energy generation is also made by the hydropower stations, in particular Charvak, Khodjikent, and 19 stations of HPS cascade constructed on the Chirchik river.
Uzbekistan also tens to increase productivity of other sectors of energy industry: coal, gas. In the period of 2008 production of power grew (103%), coal (101.4%), liquid gas (107.5%). This enabled it to increase its share in the industrial sector from 27.3% to 27.4%.
